INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS:
About the Programme:
The Asian & Oceanic Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine (AOSRA-PM) is pleased to offer education fellowships and observerships to support training in regional anaesthesia and pain medicine for doctors who do not have access to comparable training in their home country. Successful applicants are expected to return home after the placement and contribute to the development of regional anaesthesia practice.
Programmes Available:
- Clinical fellowship: 6 to 12 months (hands-on training subject to host institution policies and local regulations).
- Observership: 1 to 3 months (supervised observation; no independent practice).
- Funding support (subject to availability): AOSRA-PM scholarship and the ESRA-AOSRA-PM educational grant (for eligible joint members).
Eligibility Criteria (you must):
- be an active member of AOSRA-PM at time of application.
- be a medical doctor (MBBS/MD or equivalent) with full medical registration/license in your country of practice.
- have completed at least 2 years of anaesthesia core medical training (e.g. faculty in regional anaesthesia, anaesthesia or pain management is preferred).
- intend to return to practise in your home country after the placement
- be aged under 45 years at the application closing date.
If selected, you must:
- confirm the exact placement dates with the host institution (the host institution cannot be changed after acceptance).
- Check and meet all host country and host institution requirements (for example: visa, registration/permissions, health requirements).
- allow at least 3 months between acceptance and the start date to support visa processing and institutional approvals.
- complete the placement as agreed; if exceptional circumstances arise, request changes in writing before making new arrangements (changes will be considered for approval by the host institution and the Fellowship Committee).
- submit a final written report and/or video presentation to the AOSRA-PM secretariat within 4 weeks of program completion.

AOSRA-PM scholarship (partial):
A partial scholarship of USD 2,500.00 may be awarded annually to one (1) successful fellowship or observership applicant. Selection is made by the AOSRA-PM Fellowship Committee based on educational need, geographic representation, and potential impact in regional anaesthesia development within the applicant's home country. Priority may be given to applicants from low- and middle-income countries or underserved regions.
ESRA-AOSRA-PM Education Grant (joint members):
The ESRA-AOSRA-PM education grant is available to eligible joint members and has its own eligibility rules, training duration requirements, funding arrangements, and annual deadline(s). The standard annual deadline for the ESRA-AOSRA-PM Educational Grant is 31 December each year. However, for the 2025/2026 grant cycle, the deadline has exceptionally been extended until 28 February 2026.

- Prepare the supporting documents listed:
- Evidence of relevant medical training (MBBS/MD or equivalent)
- Full medical registration in your country of practice
- Copy of passport or other government-issued ID
- Letter of recommendation from the home AOSRA-PM representative
- Letter of release from the applicant's center of employment / workplace for the duration of the fellowship
- Letter of intent from the applicant
- Travel Medical insurance covering the applicant's stay in the host country
- A letter of good standing from the applicant's country of practice
- A recent medical certificate confirming the applicant is fit to undertake training and free from communicable infectious diseases.
- The above documents need to be provided in English or include an official translation where required.

- The AOSRA-PM Fellowship Committee reviews applications and selects successful candidates who will be notified via email.
Application Deadlines
AOSRA-PM fellowships, observerships & scholarship: for placements in 2026, the submission deadline has been exceptionally extended to 28 February 2026. From 2027 onward, the application deadline will be 31 December of the preceding year. For example: the deadline for 2027 placements will be 31 December 2026. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit complete applications before the stated deadline. Late or incomplete applications may not be considered.

- March 2026: announcement of successful candidates
